Four Different Passenger Trucks To Fit Your Unique Needs

Posted on

When you are looking at trucks for sale this Black Friday (and the sales have already started for this annual event!), you will notice that there are four different styles of pickup trucks for sale. Each one serves a slightly different purpose, although you can certainly buy any one and use it as you please. Just to get an idea of what is out there and for sale, here the four types of trucks.

Small, Light Duty Trucks

These are the smallest pickup trucks you can get. They are lightweight in comparison to all other trucks, they have the narrowest, shallowest beds, and only two people (and maybe a dog) can fit in the cab. They are only slightly larger than most of the largest passenger cars. People buy this kind of truck when they want to be able to occasionally haul small loads of stuff, but still fit the truck in their small garages.

Mid-Size Trucks

These trucks are bigger than the smallest trucks, and are often classified by tonnage. The tonnage refers to the total amount of weight you can tow and/or haul in the truck bed. For example, a half-ton truck can haul and/or tow up to one thousand pounds. Any more weight than that and the truck's engine will be struggling to move the truck and the weight in the back. Mid-size trucks typically go all the way up to one ton, in quarter ton increments. There is also more room in the cab, with possibly a small, behind the seat storage area.

Heavy Duty Trucks

These trucks are massive. If you are standing in front of them, they have grills that are at least three feet tall and five or six feet wide, and that is just the grills on the front! People who buy heavy duty trucks frequently have extremely heavy loads to haul around day after day. They use their heavy duty trucks as both personal vehicles and work vehicles. These trucks often have enough cab room for the driver, four passengers, and possibly the family dog.

Super Heavy Duty Trucks

These are the biggest trucks of all. They are so big, and so powerful that they can tow sailboat trailers through town, and they have two sets of double tires in the back of the vehicle to bear their loads. They are also the most expensive of all trucks, even when they are on sale, but if you can afford one of these, you can buy any truck you like.
